One of the easiest traps in school safety is focusing almost entirely on educating the child.
Look both ways. Cross here. Be careful.
All very useful. But a Safe System can’t rely on a nine-year-old getting everything right.
That’s why I like ScootScool. The education component is fantastic, but it opens the door to the bigger conversation with parents and schools: safer speeds, safer crossing points, better infrastructure, sensible helmet policies, parent involvement, parking management and the systems surrounding the child.
Fantastic session yesterday at a Brisbane school. Yes, the kids will definitely be safer as a result. That’s a win. But what I’m also super excited about is seeing what the school and parents lobby for in the surrounding road and street network
