The kinetic energy involved in a motor vehicle vs pedestrian collision is dramatically different from that of a bicycle vs pedestrian collision. But here, the pedestrian crossing is raised across the cycleway to slow cyclists, but remains at grade across the traffic lanes.
If we’re going to manage speed at the point of conflict, why are we targeting the mode carrying vastly less kinetic energy
Why not raise the crossing across the road as well?
